Top 20 Worldwide Fitness Trends for 2021

For the last 15 years, ACSM has circulated an electronic survey to thousands of professionals around the world to determine health & fitness trends for the following year. The survey is designed to confirm or to introduce new trends (not fads) that will have a perceived positive impact on the industry according to the international respondents.

Online Training jumped from #26 last year to #1 this year as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic resulting in the temporary closure of clubs around the world. 

Personal training includes fitness testing and goal setting with the trainer working one-on-one with a client to prescribe workouts specific to their individual needs and goals. Since this survey was first published in 2006, personal training has always been in the top 10.
