Why is ACSM the Gold Standard For Certified Personal Trainers?
ACSM is recognized as the largest sports medicine and exercise science organization in the world. Some hospitals and wellness centers require ACSM certification for their personal trainers. ACSM has an established set of fitness and body composition guidelines and recommendations for both healthy and (currently) unhealthy individuals, as well as children and senior citizens. ACSM is NCCA accredited, which is considered the most credible credentialing. Most gyms/fitness centers will not hire Trainers whose certification…whichever one it may be…is not NCCA accredited.Comparing The Different Personal Trainer Certifications…

The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) is known for its scientific rigor and strong membership of scientists, fitness professionals, clinical healthcare providers, athletic trainers, and other health and wellness professionals. ACSM offers a respected personal training certification that covers four essential domains of being a fitness professional: client consultation and fitness assessment; exercise programming and implementation; exercise leadership and education; and legal and professional responsibilities.
The second domain — exercise programming and implementation — makes up 45 percent of the entire certification programming. This section of learning is based on decades of scientific research conducted by ACSM and other research organizations, and it teaches you how to design an effective exercise program based on your clients’ medical history, health and fitness goals, injuries, exercise preferences, and much more.
You’ll learn a great deal about anatomy, physiology, adaptations to exercise, and other important need-to-knows about the human body and fitness training. You know it’s the real deal because other certifying agencies, including ACE, actually use some research, facts, and statistics from ACSM as part of their own certification study materials.
ACSM is known as the Gold Standard in training certifications. As you saw on the main page, the exam has a 54% pass rate. It is the hardest certification to obtain for a reason…it is the best! Rather than going for one of the easier certifications, know that ACSM Trainers put the time & effort in…and have the most knowledge and best training…to get you where you want to be! Choosing a Certified Personal Trainer is your first step into making a better you! Keep in mind the certification he/she holds is definitely important.
